Talented teen Yellow Days brings indie-soul to El Rey on Nov. 6
Yellow Days, aka George Van Den Broek, is a teenage sensation from the town of Haslemere in England. The 18-year-old singer-songwriter has a signature blend of R&B, jazz and alt-rock, and has in the past two years been featured in the hit show Atlanta, dropped his debut LP Harmless Melodies, and debut album Is Everything Ok In Your World? According to El Rey, “It’s an incredibly conscious album, tackling battles amongst friends, strangers and himself with the upmost care. In a world increasingly anxious and disconnected, the compassion and care of Yellow Days is something to treasure.” Van Den Broek himself struggled with depression growing up, and hopes that Is Everything Ok In Your World? can help people recover from depression and anxiety.
In an interview with NME, Van Den Broek said “I really love writing sad music. It’s weird, I don’t know why. It’s just really good, I can’t explain it, but it’s just something that happens. It’s great.”
Yellow Days is playing at the El Rey Theatre on Tuesday Nov. 6 at 8:30p.m.
