Toronto’s DIY power-pop quartet Little Junior release their high-octane single “Accolades” this Thursday, October 5th. The revenge track is perfect for letting loose and shaking off negative vibes from a sour relationship.
The song dives right into electrifying guitar riffs as songwriter/vocalist Rane Elliott-Armstrong opens with, “I’m not complaining, I’m good at a lot of things” as he sings about jealousy and resentment. “I’ll bite my tongue, maybe then you’ll like me, maybe then you’ll take me seriously.” Ultimately the track is about rising above anything that’s trying to bring you down and just doing you.
Effectively capturing the amplified energy of “Accolades,” Little Junior goes big with the accompanying music video – which was filmed on the rooftop helipad of a skyscraper in Guangzhou, China. Dressed in white jumpsuits and sneakers, Little Junior tears into the song as dancers appear alongside. At times Little Junior joins in with their own dance choreography. They look like they’re living their best life and that’s kind of the point.
“The video for “Accolades” is pure boy band fantasy,” says songwriter/vocalist Rane Elliott-Armstrong. “While the lyrics explore jealous resentment, we know the best revenge is living well. And if flying to Guangzhou, China to shoot a video on a helipad isn’t living well, then what is?”
Listen to the premiere of “Accolades” now and look for Little Junior’s debut full-length, produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr./Sonic Youth) slated for release in 2018.
Little Junior is touring throughout the month including dates with Metz and Andrew W.K.
