staff picks

Here at COLLiDE, we are constantly on the move. Not only is travel a part of our job, it’s something we’re all passionate about. This year alone we’ve traveled from Mexico to Tokyo and everywhere in between. So it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about the gear to get you through those sleepless nights, long plane rides and adventures on the road. From tech to luggage, here are 11 must haves while traveling.

Alan Miller – Founder and “Portland Pickles #1 fan”
recommends: USB-C AC Plug Power Bank Heloideo ($28)

Wes Martin – Marketing and “is not watching Pawn Stars right now, he promises”
recommends: Patagonia Black Hole Duffle Bag – 90L ($150)

“When you’re packing for 2 weeks, this is what you go with. It fits everything that you could possibly need, and then 3 more pairs of shoes.”

Leah Hobbs – Artist Relations and “plays soccer on Tuesdays”
recommends: Jansport Javelina Backpack in Red ($60)

Richard Pace – Business Development Director and “Seeker of Anything Fun”
recommends: iPhone Charger ($18)

“My phone charger because my iPhone6 battery is junk… are you listening Santa??”

Monique Gilbert – Business Development and Marketing and “constantly depriving herself of mac and cheese”
recommends: Andalou Face Masks ($5-15)

“I don’t know if this is technically a piece of travel gear, but I take Andalou Face Masks (either the pods or the sheets) with me whenever I do travel because they are a great way to pamper yourself while on the road, and keep your skin/face looking fresh when you may not feel so rested. “

Gigie Hall – Editorial Director and “resident outdoor dirtbag”
recommends: Patagonia Lightweight Travel Mini Hip Pack ($30)

“Hands down, the Patagonia Lightweight Travel Mini Hip Pack AKA their fanny pack is the best thing ever given to me. On the trail, in the city — this thing will make you never want to haul a daypack or purse again.”

Molly Kodros – Project Manager and “resident bowler and karaoke extraordinaire”
recommends: Burton Charter Roller Travel Bag ($180)

Robben Barquist – Intern and  “Resident Dungeon Delver”
recommends: Herschel Backpack ($100)

“Not really sure but my Herschel backpack is still in great shape after 3 years of use so I guess that.”

Megan “What it Doooo” McCredie – Project Manager
recommends: Neck Pillow ($12)

“I simply adore my precious neck pillow.”

Gillian Driscoll – Editorial Assistant and “Resident pop culture maven and Harry Styles fan”
recommends: EO Lavender Hand Sanitizer Wipes ($12)

“I take these with me to clean surfaces and my hands on the go. They’re easy to throw in your bag and the lavender scent is refreshing and calming.”

Maria Sauer – Business Development/Project Manager and “Tuna Queen”
recommends: Korean Face Masks ($4)
