Sin City native and Philadelphia-based indie-rock outfit Shamir recently released his second single “I Wonder” from his self-titled album due out on October 2.
“I Wonder” is an irresistible banger filled with grunge-infused guitar chords and melodic pop nodes. Narrations from Shamir provide comfort and theatric flair as vulnerability builds and self-exploration deepens. Imagery of love consuming one’s heart inspired by climate change and Keith Haring visuals is unveiled and met with sparkling elements of electro-pop and steady drum beats under a defiant blanket of fuzzy guitars.
Shamir’s critically acclaimed Cataclysm was released by surprise to many back in March, but this next LP feels more personal and true. Leaving some of his synth-heavy sounds behind, Shamir dives into the DIY, post-hardcore sphere of the ‘90s. The forthcoming LP features numerous producers including Kyle Pulley of Thin Lips (Hop Along, Diet Cig), and will be released independently. The project speaks for itself with its effortless grandeur and lust and is a massive step in a new direction for Shamir.
