Dark-pop artist Valencia James is here to bring a message of hope and positivity in her latest release “All the Waves.”
In these gloomy and uncertain times it can be hard to see a way out, but James wants to remind you how there is always light at the end of the tunnel. The haunting song features minimalist piano melodies emitting an eerie atmosphere, while oscillating synths, punchy percussion and James’ soulful vocal tones build to create an infectious and memorable track that’ll keep running through your head all day long.
The New York-born, Sydney-based artist wrote “All the Waves” after feeling completely engulfed by the pressures of life and the ever-changing motions that this year has thrown at us.
“’All the Waves’ takes inspiration from a really long, hard season I was going through that lasted really up until now and it’s become even more relevant with everything going on in 2020,” James shared. “It’s my way of comparing my fear of the waves to how I feel about the situations in my life and the hits that I’ve taken being likened to a succession of waves breaking over me.”
Her honest and sincere lyrics allow us to connect with her on a deeper level, finding empathy with each word she sings. The idea of longing for better times is something that we can all relate to right now and James offers a few words of wisdom.
If you’re looking for a new playlist addition that brings to mind the likes of Dua Lipa meets Halsey, then “All the Waves” is the song.
