PREMIERE: The Pink Stones drop “We’ve Got to Get Ourselves Together” cover
The Pink Stones

What do you get when you combine dreamy folk, psychedelic country, and a Flying Burrito Brothers track? A brand new release from Athens based The Pink Stones!

We have the honor of premiering their new cover “We’ve Got to Get Ourselves Together” to our readers here at Culture Collide. Here’s what Pinkston had to say about the song:

“This is a song written by Delaney & Bonnie, and also played by the Burritos and the Staples.  We’re pretty heavily inspired by all of that stuff, so we figured we might as well record it at home, since we’re all here (haha). We invited our friends Lindsay Jordan and Jessica Thompson (Hotel Fiction) to sing on it with us, so it’d feel like we were all hanging out and playing together again. We cut it pretty early into Covid, and before things started to change, but we feel it’s an appropriate song for the time. It’s a beautiful song about coming together and working out problems, which people all over the world have been doing by educating themselves and their friends/family, donating to beautiful funds, and protesting a corrupt and unnecessary police force, as well as an uncaring and corrupt government. Hopefully this music and these lyrics can help us come together and continue pushing forward. If you like this song, you should donate your money to Athens Mutual Aid, freedom/bail funds in your area, or any Black Lives Matter related fund/charity that you feel comfortable with. This song is dedicated to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Ahmaud Arbery, Riah Milton, Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells, and all of the countless others we’ve lost. Keep fighting. A change is gonna come.”
