Stream the latest single from Lost Film’s upcoming new record, Zero Summer.
Lost Film began as the minimalist guitar pop project of Jimmy Hewitt in Easthampton, MA in 2014. After moving out of Boston and spending several years playing under the moniker Orca Orca, Hewitt adjusted back to small-town life by focusing on writing straight-forward, layered pop songs.
Lost Film is set to release their third album after a two-year hiatus. The bulk of the songwriting for the album took inspiration from a T.S. Eliot poem, “Little Gidding.” It speaks to idealizing specific moments in life and knowing that positives exist because their negative counterpoints do as well.
Jimmy Hewitt spoke about the premiered track: “‘ENOUGH’ deals with how more people are choosing to move further away from home — myself included. Whether it’s for financial gains or warmer winters, most are leaving simply because they can. I’ve recently settled just 2 hours west of where I was raised, and as I get older, I’m starting to grapple with the decision of surrounding myself with variety over the proximity to loved ones. Once this song came together, the tone of the album definitely shifted. I started getting really into having clean and bright synths or guitars constantly battle dirty overdriven counterparts, which can blend together to make really colorful textures. Sonically, this song became the focal point and I started writing the rest of the album around it.”
Zero Summer will be released in full on October 25th.
