Hailing from Melbourne, Australia’s Tim Ayre may very well be a supernatural being. His blissed out psych sonics are on full display with his spacey new single “LAXX.”
Regarding the titling of the track, Tim proclaims “The title LAXX is a play on words. In Australia, we say LAXX as slang for relaxed (ie. Having a lax on the beach) and it’s also a reference to LAX airport in LA – I wanted to bring inspiration from those two references into the song.”
His explanation is certainly fitting as this track is indeed equal parts warm synth-soaked Tame Impala meeting with the chilled out Beach Boys spirit of California. You can’t help being swept away as the cascading neon palm trees wash over this charming alien singer-songwriter in the official music video.
For much of the early portion of this song, Tim’s effortless vocals are laid bare over the glistening track. Culminating in a grandiose musical breakdown at the 2:40 mark which pulls you in close and doesn’t let go.
In 2017 Tim Ayre had a single release for “Find You” which garnered attention from tastemakers down under, most notably the folks at Triple J Radio. One can only suspect this new track “LAXX” will be similarly well-received back home, but also raise new levels of interest abroad.
Here at Culture COLLiDE we are chuffed to premiere the single “LAXX” from Tim Ayre’s debut EP, which is set to be released on Kitsuné Musique this year.
