El Obo has announced the release of his new album and we have the pleasure of premiering the third and final track, “General King”.
For those of us who have been wondering when Mississippi based Colour Revolt would release new music since their nearly decade old album, The Cradle, Jesse Coppenbarger has returned with new project, El Obo. The new project is an experimental and folk influenced body of work showcasing a more intimate and adventurous side to Coppenbarger’s songwriting. The album will be released by Favorite Gentlemen, Manchester Orchestra’s label that they founded.
With soft and airy twinkles opening the track, “General King” is your new chill go-to track for long drives. Though its sonically pleasing, lyrically the song has listeners yearning for loves long gone. The perfect combination if you ask us! Here’s what Coppenbarger had to say about the third and final single from the new album: “General king is more relationally based. The songs were recorded over five years in two different homes with my friends Cole Furlow and Paddy Ryan from Colour Revolt on drums. The songs on the record span many different subjects but this is your classic love lost song.” – Jesse Coppenbarger
