Scandinavian Electropop maven Clara Mae just got home to her native Gävle, Sweden after an extended stay in LA where she made some serious power moves concerning her burgeoning solo career.Check out the photo diary and a note from Clara Mae below.
Clara Mae has established herself over the last couple years with a number of co-writing credits on singles with some of the biggest names in the European dance music scene (Tiesto, David Guetta), but with the popularity of her debut solo single “I’m Not Her,” Clara is suddenly looking like a breakout star on the rise. While in LA last month, Clara gave her first American showcase at the Peppermint Club in West Hollywood, took part in numerous writing/recording sessions, and in general made the kind of money moves indicative of a young pop culture powerhouse on her way to the top. And damn did she look good doing it! Rad celebrity photographers Zoe Rain and Sofia Draco captured some of Clara’s LA looks, and suffice to say, she has got her aesthetic on lock.
Faithful COLLiDE readers will know we absolutely love Clara’s music and style (we premiered the video for her acoustic performance of “I’m Not Her” back in January), but she’s really dialed everything up with her new single “I Forgot.” The beat bangs harder, the emotions are more raw, the look is more striking, and the overall feeling is powerful and affective across the board. The song itself deals with the feelings that surface when we run into an ex: that flood of old emotions, that nostalgia for the good times, the desire to turn back the clock, and the inevitable remembrance of what drove you apart in the first place.
