With a sound comparable to atmospheric artists such as Weyes Blood and Cocteau Twins, artist Gianna Lauren’s latest single takes the listener through a discussion of feeling a sense of helplessness when trying to make real and lasting change.
Piano chords and jazzy vocals round out the single, with quiet drums coming in during the chorus. This adds a jazzy vibe.
The track overall is very relaxing, the peace that comes after admitting that feeling of helplessness. Lauren’s vocals are reminiscent of artists like Lucy Dacus, blending a soothing tone with tight vocal control to bring a beautiful, moody atmosphere to the song.
“Spark” comes ahead of Lauren’s upcoming EP Vanity Metrics, which is out Nov. 13 via Forward Music Group.
