Burning Pools is a grungy rock outfit that hits you hard with a powerful punch.
The band releases their bold new single “Bang Bang” and the offering is a true headbanger. The distorted track highlights gritty guitars, pounding percussion and Joan Jett-esque vocals seeping with raw attitude. The song is off their debut EP, which explores society’s foibles such as valuing money above all else and the under-appreciation for women and minorities.
Ginger Pooley, the group’s lead, reveals, “The songs overall are a critique of what our society values versus what it deems less important. It’s nothing new for music to be a voice of criticism of our culture. That is the purpose of a lot of art. This is just my way of expressing my frustration with the priorities of modern society.”
The former bassist for The Smashing Pumpkins Ginger Pooley and husband Kristopher Pooley connected with guitarist Max Bernstein and from there Burning Pools was born.
“Ginger and I have been working on different music off and on since we met and got married in 2008, usually on Ginger’s solo projects. These songs felt a little different though and we wanted to play with a like-minded friend so we joined forces with Max,” Kris confides about the trio’s conception.
Burning Pools concocts electrifying releases radiating with static fuzz. Collectively, they have worked with some of the biggest names in music such as Tom Morello, Siouxsie Sioux, Morrissey and Liz Phair. The band’s dreams of taking to the stage have been placed on hold due to the 2020 pandemic, but that is not impeding their momentum as they continue to drop singles from the upcoming EP.
Keep an eye out for this thrilling band on the rise.
