If playing a surprise concert for fans from the back of a U-Haul in their home town doesn’t make this clear already, alternative mainstays The Maine love their hometown. Before becoming Warped Tour darlings, bassist Garrett Nickelsen and drummer Patrick Kirch enlisted singer John O’Callaghan and guitarists Jared Monaco and Ryan Osterman back in 2006. Just three year later, they had signed with Fearless records, released two EPs and an LP and toured with 2000’s legends like Good Charlotte and The Academy Is… Four full-lengths later finds the band with a new album released on April 7th. The Maine are hardly finished. Their unique method of taking the aggressive melodrama present in their scene and injecting sing-along choruses and accessible leads into it has brought them through a decade of music making, and their appreciation of their fans and hometown still rings true.
