Nick Murphy

Last September, Chet Faker announced that “there’s an evolution happening” and said he would be ditching his stage name, releasing all of his music under his birth name Nick Murphy from that point on. Now, the singer/producer has released a five-track EP that he describes as “a new collection of tracks that bridge the sonic shift between Chet Faker and Nick Murphy.” In a press release, he continues, “Chet Faker was me trying to prove something to myself. But my tastes are pretty dynamic, and I realized I’ve spent time resisting that. Now I want to put everything in. It’s not conceptual anymore. It’s just me, and it made sense to show that in a name. It feels like a rediscovery.”
