As if starting off 2015’s NICE with a track called “210 First St.” doesn’t clarify their statement enough, Deep State’s garage rock grit evokes an appreciation of humble beginnings, youthful abandon with a self-aware undercurrent. Fans of the filthy distortion and quirky noise of surf-punk artists like Ty Segall and an aura of exuberance and joy rivaling that of Japandroids should keep an eye out for Thought Garden, due to release in April.
