Held annually in mid-October, Iceland Airwaves is an amazing music festival that turns the capital city of Reykjavik into a vibe that one could compare to SXSW in Austin -minus the chilly weather.  The numerous venues are all close together hosting about 300 bands from around the world while the streets become filled with music fans who like to party into the wee hours of the night.  In the past, bands such as Sigur Rós, Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio, Keane, Wolf Parade and Hot Chip have played here.  Meanwhile, this year featured artists like Robyn, Oh No Ono, Efterklang, and The Antlers along with Culture Collide Festival alums, Nive Nielsen and the Deer Children and Harrys Gym.

Because Culture Collide isn't just about Los Angeles, but rather a global "stage" we were very excited to have an insider experience at Iceland Airwaves this year.  We took over Venue on the final night of the festival and had some awesome bands like Neon Indian, Diamond Rings, and Sometime, perform to a seriously packed out crowd. During the festival we also managed to check out some great Icelandic bands like Lára Rúnars and Of Monsters and Men.  Stay tuned for more updates as Culture Collide will soon be making appearances at partner fests around the world in the coming year.

Takk Iceland Airwaves!
